Dr. Stephanie Efua Sobotie is a dedicated Family Physician Obstetrician practicing in Alberta, Canada, with a distinguished medical career spanning over fourteen years. Her academic journey commenced with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology in 2007, followed by the completion of her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 2010 at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. She later obtained her Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) in 2015 and earned Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) in 2019. Additionally, she holds a Diploma in Addiction Medicine from the University of British Columbia, awarded in 2018.
Throughout her career, Dr. Sobotie has continuously sought to advance her skills and expertise. In 2019, she was honored to receive a Certificate of Added Competence (CAC) in Obstetric Surgical Skills after a thorough peer review process. Currently, she serves as a Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Family Medicine at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, and is a family practice assessor for the College of Physicians and Surgeons Alberta (CPSA).
Dr. Sobotie is particularly proud of her contributions to the field of family practice and obstetrics, including pioneering surgical obstetrical care in a rural community in Ghana and the critical role played in re-establishing an innovative rural obstetrical program in Saskatchewan, Canada. Presently, she operates a family practice in Bow Trail with a dedicated focus on women’s health, reflecting her unwavering commitment to advancing women-centered care.
On a personal note, Dr. Sobotie is a devoted wife and mother to three wonderful children, Tiffany, Dayna, and Ollie. In her spare time, she enjoys creating new low-carb recipes and has recently begun exploring medical research and scientific article writing. Her passion for medicine and her family fuels her commitment to making a meaningful impact in the healthcare community.
Heather is a highly motivated and compassionate Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) who is deeply passionate about healthy aging and helping individuals across the age spectrum live life to the fullest. With a wealth of knowledge and experience in the healthcare industry, she has dedicated her career to improving the physical and mental well-being of her patients. Heather’s approach to healthcare is holistic, recognizing the interconnectedness of physical and mental health and the power of early interventions and lifestyle modifications to enhance overall health and quality of life. She is committed to educating her patients about the importance of healthy habits, balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and stress management to prevent age-related health issues and maintain vitality throughout the lifespan.

Heather has worn many hats as clinician, educator, regulatory specialist, patient advocate and clinical trial developer. Heather has spent over 15 years in the pediatric emergency department at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and has worked in pediatric concussion clinical trials, poison and drug information, endocrine testing, travel nursing, and corrections.
Beyond her professional achievements, Heather’s passion for athletics remains a constant part of her life. Varsity athletics instilled in her the values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, which she now integrates into her patient-centered care approach. Heather unwinds and recharges by embracing the outdoors and loves to beach walk, hike, surf, and run. Heather is a devoted parent, juggling the responsibilities of a busy family life with her passion for healthcare. She strongly believes in the importance of improving healthcare access for all individuals, regardless of age, background, or socioeconomic status.
